High on the island of El Hierro stands the remote pilgrimage sanctuary Ermita de Nuestra Señora de los Reyes, founded in the 14th century. Its simple stone architecture is built from local volcanic rock, and every four years the islanders still uphold its centuries-old tradition to this site.
